FEEDING TWINS 6 MONTHS +
Once your twins start eating solids (which can be as early as 4.5 months) you will need additional equipment to feed them in. It can be a very messy affair especially once you start finger food so make sure you place something under your high chairs! We used round Prince Lionheart mats under each (waterproof for that spaghetti sauce!) to collect all the fallen/thrown food.
High chairs: If you don’t have the space or don’t want to use separate high chairs you can easily purchase strap on space saver high chairs. This is what we used for our then quite space constrained New York apartment and it worked well for us. We took the chairs off when we had guests but otherwise kept them strapped onto the dining chairs. Only thing to bear in mind is that given how messy it can get, you do not want to strap space saver chairs to really expensive chairs that are difficult to clean!
The Stokke trip trap high chairs always generate a lot of good feedback and last a very long time. However you will need a baby insert for them and that makes them rather expensive high chairs. They do however have a reasonably good re-sell value.
Eating utensils: I am a big fan of Oxo tot plates because they keep everything separate which for some reason is important to babies (they do not like mixing). I also used the Oxo storage pots as they are nice and small and also great for transporting snacks in the nappy bag.
Cooking: For cooking of purees and other meals I exclusively used my Beaba babycook food processor and it saved a lot of time and effort! It purees and steam cooks the food perfectly and the double size makes it very effective. Although if you are tight for space you can buy a single Babycook. I found it so much nicer to cook my own purees than to buy ready made ones but it is a personal preference and also a matter of time!
